# HikeBuddy - Hiking Helper Application

## Overview

The application should be an assistant application for my hiking planing, gear, support during hikes and tracking of hikes.

## Functionalities

### Hike duration calculator

To calculate the estimated duration of a hike we use the following formula:

```
v1 = Difference in Altitude (m) / 300
v2 = Distance in Kilometers (km) / 4

min = min(v1, v2)
max = max(v1, v2)

duration (hours) = max + (0.5 * min)
(Decimals are rounded and displayed as full minutes)
```

## Technical Specification

The application is supposed to have multiple functionalities in the future. For now the *Hike duration calculator*
is the only functionality available. Keep in mind that multiple functionalities are coming in the future.

The application has to be a Spring Boot application with a Thymeleaf frontend.

The application should be deployed via Docker and Docker compose.
