HikeBuddy - Hiking Helper Application

Overview

The application should be an assistant application for my hiking planing, gear, support during hikes and tracking of hikes.

Functionalities

Hike duration calculator

To calculate the estimated duration of a hike we use the following formula:

v1 = Difference in Altitude (m) / 300
v2 = Distance in Kilometers (km) / 4

min = min(v1, v2)
max = max(v1, v2)

duration (hours) = max + (0.5 * min)
(Decimals are rounded and displayed as full minutes)

Technical Specification

The application is supposed to have multiple functionalities in the future. For now the Hike duration calculator is the only functionality available. Keep in mind that multiple functionalities are coming in the future.

The application has to be a Spring Boot application with a Thymeleaf frontend.

The application should be deployed via Docker and Docker compose.
